Size and media: 24 x 36in Collage mix Acrylic colour

"Tai Ko Lou" expresses the history of Taikoo. I hope that viewers through my work can attract to understand the history and culture behind that. I used collage and pastel painting to create this artpiece. The building in the middle is Yik Cheong Building (a.k.a. Monster Building), which represented one of the landmark in the area. On both sides are old news reports, photos, signs and other materials that represents the long history of Taikoo. I participated in the guided tours of the Taikoo culture and found that the district carries many historical stories and is also a major landmark for Hong Kong's transformation. The Swire group was found in 1866. Its changes reflects Hong Kong’s development and transformation since then. However, while the tourists paid attention to the appearance of the Yik Cheong Building, they failed to understand the history and stories behind. For example, many people have seen the pennant of Swire Group, white and blue colors of the ancient symbols, but they do not know its story. The work was exhibited in the 2017 Cultural Hulu Hong Kong Jockey Club "Hong Kong Culture. Hong Kong Creative" Scheme _ Eastern District, Southern District and Wan Chai Community Creative Project Exhibition.
